Fantasy Rugby League is a fantasy rugby league platform, featuring a drafting system that is different from their competitors. Essentially it incorporates an American NFL drafting system.
The website features two of the most popular rugby tournaments in the world. Super Rugby from the southern hemisphere, and the English Premiership from the northern hemisphere.
Users on Fantasy Rugby Draft can create accounts, as well as their own custom leagues. They can then send invitations to their friends to join those leagues. Before the start of each season, league members must present a list of the players they wish to draft for their own teams. A draft then takes place, where players are “signed” to the league users. This ensures that each team is unique as players don’t get duplicated within a custom league.
This drafting system creates a more realistic depiction of rugby tournaments, but within an established fantasy manager system.
For Fantasy Rugby Draft, Lilo’s developers created a bespoke .Net website.
This was a complex project, with the development team creating many custom functionalities to the client’s specifications. This included the drafting system for each custom league – supporting up to 10 friends for selecting their preferred players (all in realtime).
For the automated calculation of points, Lilo included a third-party integration with OPTA – suppliers of live sports performance data. This means that the points allocated to players each week are based on their real-life performance in live matches.
